THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PATIENCE!
Wow! Hard to believe we are in our 13th year of playing on the CBSSports.com site! Still waiting forthe Draft Room.... that remains my hope. We congratulate the Miami Township Mummies on their 2010 Championship as they hope to be our first back2back champion. Finally we welcome 3 new teams: Femme Fatale, run by Kristin D; Serenity Now!, run by Jerry Eubank; and BrosBeforeShaincoes, run by Rob Mahrt.

. . . AND AWAY WE GO!THIS HAS BECOME MORE THAN JUST AN ARCHIVE WEBSITE. There are drafting tools, proper records and record keeping, years in review, and team histories. Brian has been working with making our league stats (Owners and Players) available for your use. That would be a huge change to our site if he can figure that out! But this goes to everyone: I am always tweeking the site to try to make it more useful and enjoyable so if you have suggestions, please let me know.THERE WERE NO SITE UPDATES THIS OFFSEASON, HOWEVER IN CASE YOU DIDN'T NOTICE: Rules Page: This page has been reordered in a more logical manner, starting where we start (draft) and progressing forward through the season to the end. There are now linked headings at the top to help you navigate, and footnotes to highlight when rules were changed. Hey, someone should have transparency, right?! Unique Team Pages: Team pages have been updated to give each franchise team colors and banner logo, to make each team page unique and to make this area more interesting to visit. Also the Team History table now has sortable columns, which you can activate by selecting a column header. Schedule Page: Early last year, I found information in an old binder going back to 2006! So during the season I started updating the Schedule pages to be more than just "dead scores." Now they list how teams did in Passing, Rushing, Receiving, and Defense/Special Teams, as well as potential game highlights. Since that information expanded the page, their are links to specific weeks and an easy-to-return "top" link. These pages also have a link to a "Schedule Grid" at the top of the page so you can see how all fared in that format too. Standings Page: In 2009, I found a "Magic Number" calculator and added it to the Standings Page at the beginning of the Playoff Race (Week 9 thru 14). For those familiar with other sports, a team's 'magic number' is the number of combined wins by the leading team and losses by the trailing team that will eliminate the trailing team from a playoff berth. Team Rankings: The Power Ranking table is now sortable. Also just above the "League Leaders" table, you will see a link to a downloadable PDF with the year's scoring in a nice 4 page format. BLOG-ROLL: This year was my second year writing the "Weekly Preview" as part of a Weekly Blog-cast. The second year (2009) was a much greater success! This was due to more consistency in the Blog Posts, better researched player news, and a great playoff year that involved multiple teams. But the best part had to be the addition of a clear and understandable Playoff Picture table that outlined exactly where every team stood once the playoff race began. Toward the end of the year, I opted for a bit of humor with "Weekly Hangover." APP-TASTIC: If you are a mobile phone user, you no-doubt know that the CBSSports.com site is available on your mobile phone. If you are an iPhone user, follow the standard link to our website and you will be redirected to a site that takes into account the smaller screen and different navigation. But there is a another option for iPhone users. [Click Here] and you will be routed to a new free CBSSports Mobile iPhone application that will help you manage your fantasy football team. After using it this year, I am not impressed. You might have different results. Other mobile devices are supported as well. I am just biased. PICK'EM: During the 2008 Season, our website was updated to include the "Pick'em" for the first time in a long time. We ran it again last year with similar results. Hopefully everyone had a chance to participate and prognosticate. And if you did, you would have seen that I beat you now for the second year in a row! END OF DOCUMENTATION OF THE 'EARLY YEARS': I am restating this again: I will continue to systematically phase out that portion of our site. That means that this site will only store information and have links to information from 2003 to the present. Also I will be removing references to that time period as well as we move forward. This is to keep the information consistent and understandable. Consider this similar to the time before the NFL merger. If you were a powerhouse during those first 4 years, you might be similar to the Cleveland Browns -- great before the merger, an afterthought since. Sorry. WHAT IS LEFT: Just to sit back and enjoy the season! Good Luck to you all and HAVE FUN! |
